Netscape 4.5 - 4.7 Set-Up Instructions for Online Services
Open your Netscape Communicator program
Go to the "Edit" menu and click on "Preferences"
Click once on the plus sign (+) in front of the "Mail & Newsgroups"
option on the left side of the Preferences window so you see
several options listed below "Mail & Newsgroups"
Click on the "Identity" option once
Type your name in the "Your Name" box (for example: Joe User)
Type your email address in the "Email Address" box (for example: joeuser@dialoregon.net)
You may leave the "Reply-to Address" box blank
You may type the name of the business or organization you are
associated with (if any) in the "Organization" box
Click on the "Mail Servers" option once on the left hand side of the
Preferences window
Depending on what you see in the box below "Incoming Mail Servers":
If you do NOT have any entries in the box, click on the
"Add" button
If you do have an entry in the box, click on the "Edit" button
Type "mail.dialoregon.net" in the "Server Name" box
For "Server Type" click on the down arrow at the end of the box
and choose the "POP3 Server" option
Type your username in the "User Name" box (for example: joeuser)
If you do not want to type your password every time you check
your mail, make sure the "Remember Password" box is marked
Click on "OK"
Type "mail.dialoregon.net" in the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server" box
Leave the "Outgoing mail server user name" box blank
Make sure the "Use Secure Socket Layer" option is set to "Never"
Click on the "Newsgroup Server" option once on the left hand side
of the Preferences window
Depending on what you see in the box below "Newsgroup Servers":
If you do NOT have any entries in the box, click on the
"Add" button
If you do have an entry in the box, click on the "Delete" button
to remove the entry, then click on the "Add" button
Type "news.dialoregon.net" in the "Server" box
Leave the "Port" set to "119"
Make sure the "Supports encrypted connections" and "Always use
name and password" boxes are NOT checked
Click on "OK"
Click on "OK" again
