Microsoft Outlook 97 Set-Up Instructions

  1. Open your Microsoft Outlook program
  2. Go to the "Tools" menu and click on "Services"
  3. Depending on what you see in the box below "The following information services":
  4. Click on the "General" tab
  5. Type your first name (or anything you want) in the "Mail Account" box
  6. Type your name in the "Name" box (for example: Joe User)
  7. You may type the name of the business or organization you are associated with (if any) in the "Organization" box
  8. Type your email address in the "Your Email" box (for example: joeuser@dialoregon.net)
  9. You may leave the "Reply-to Address" box blank
  10. Click on the "Servers" tab
  11. Type "mail.dialoregon.net" in the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP)" box
  12. Type "mail.dialoregon.net" in the "Incoming Mail (POP3)" box
  13. Make sure the "Logon Using" option is marked
  14. Type your username in the "Account Name" box (for example: joeuser)
  15. If you do not want to type your password every time you check your mail, type your password in the "Password" box
  16. Click on the "Connection" tab
  17. Click on the "I use a modem" button so it has a dot in it
  18. Make sure the connection you use for dialoregon.net is showing in the box labeled "Use the following Dial-Up Networking connection" (if it is not, click on the down-arrow at the end of the box and choose your dialoregon connection)
  19. Click on the "Advanced" tab
  20. Make sure the two options for "This server requires a secure connection" are NOT checked
  21. Make sure the "Outgoing Mail" port is set to 25 and the "Incoming Mail" port is set to 110
  22. Click on "OK"
  23. Click on "OK" again
